1943 Chief Bender Handwritten Signed Letter. A graduate of the same Carlisle Indian Industrial School which provided the sporting world with Jim Thorpe, Charles Bender was considered perhaps the greatest big game pitcher of the Dead Ball Era, helping his Philadelphia Athletics to three World Championships during his tenure with the club. Here he graciously answers an autograph request from his adopted hometown, his elegant script and closing signature rating 9+/10 in strength. Letter exhibits original mailing folds and very mild scattered creasing which causes no distraction. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
