This listing represents one of the most popularly collected WWII GI Field Gear items. you have the ubiquitous M1936 Musette pack dated 1943 and manufactured by the Arnold Manufacturing Company, a noted contractor of GI canvas field gear. It is in outstanding condition, has the highly desirable WWII light brownish- OD canvas color. T is no dry rot and the structural integrity is sound. Paratroopers and Army Officers predominantly carried Musette packs as part of their field gear rigs. GIs along with paratroopers opted to eventually carry Musette packs versus the M-1928 assault packs once they invaded France. (Musettes could store more personal gear, and Musette packs were less limiting than the assault packs.) They were used when the paratrooper went on leave as luggage. Under the flap are the date and manufacturer markings that are light but legible. The pack measures approximately twelve by fourteen inches when collapsed. The flap opens to a pack or haversack. T is a divider in the packet. Also, it has a loop sewn to the inside of the pack for securing an item or equipment. The left side of the pack has a small external pocket, measuring about five by seven inches with a steel button. The back of the pack, which rests against the GI has an external pocket. It does not have a flap, but buttons up with a steel button. The flap has read more
