You are bidding on one (1) used vintage 1943 hand held maritime Stadimeter that was made by Schick incorporated. A stadimeter is an optical device for estimating the range to an object of known height by measuring the angle between the top and bottom of the object as observed at the device. It is an optical rangefinder. It is similar to a sextant. It is approximately 11 1/2" long by about 5 1/2" wide by 6 1/2" high (including the magnifying lens.) It is made of brass but the majority has a black coating on it. It has a brass tag that reads,"Stadimeter, Schick incorporated, Stamford, Conn., USA" and another tag that reads, "U.S. Maritime Commission, 3110- 1943. It has a wooden handle and a ruler that measures distances from 50 to 200 feet. It appears to be in good condition but I do not know how to operate it. Stadimeters are still used aboard US Navy warships today at times when using active radar is inadvisable. A great item for the naval collector. Payment is to be made by Pay Pal only. Successful bidder to pay all shipping and insurance charges. Shipping to the US only. Winning bidder should contact the seller within three (3) days and payment to be made within seven (7) days. Please ask questions before you bid. All sales are final and all items are sold As Is, no returns. If you are bidding on more than one item, please read more
