For auction is an original 1944 WW2 German K98 BAYONET with MATCHING NUMBERS . This piece would complete your historic rifle and/or collection perfectly. Please check out the 1943 Leather Frog that came with this bayonet. It is listed separately. Blade Marked 44 ffc . It was made by Friedrich Abr. Herder und Sohn in Solingen, Germany in 1944 . "ffc" was the war-time code used by this manufacturer. This is a fairly rare maker. Marked with serial number 5254 e . Marked with one or two Waffenampts (factory proof marks). They were on the rear of the pommel but have been erased by corrosion. You can almost make them out. The grips are the late-war reddish brown bakelite. The signature late-war rough machining marks are present. The blade has been sharpened. The blade appears to have non-factory cold blueing on it. It actually shows the color blue that can be seen in the pictures. T is a lot of pitting on the handle metal.Scabbard Marked with the same markings: 44 ffc and 5254 e . T is a spring screw in place, but it does not appear to be original. It actually looks like a retention screw on the trigger guard of a K98 rifle. The finial or ball end is stamped with a Waffenampt Eagle and WaA5?9 stamping. T are no dents. This one has the late-war phosphate finish. The blade slides all the way in and back out properly. T is a lot of pitting and loss of finish.Don't miss your chance to own a late-war Matching Number German bayonet. Please let me know if you need any other pictures.
