This is a comic character figure, Wimpy, from the Popeye cartoon series that began in the 1930s. His full name was J. Wellington Wimpy, and he was Popeye's best friend. You can count on one hand the number of these KFS figures that have been offered with their original boxes on Ebay over the past decade. The figures are made of syroco-wood-type material, although they were actually manufactured by Multi Products of Chicago, Illinois. Wimpy stands about 4 3/4" tall, has his name molded into the front of the base and the words "© 1944 KFS" molded into the back. The box is crisp, including the great graphics, with all flaps intact and with the original factory-stencilled name "WIMPY" on one end. The box reads, among other things, "These figures of your favorite Comic Characters are reproductions of original hand-carvings ... made from illustrations prepared especially for this purpose by the individual artists who draw these strips." Guaranteed all original, no repaint, no repair, no damage. Please e-mail me within 3 days following the close of the auction, with name and shipping address, or otherwise auction may be declared void. Payment is expected within one week of auction close. I will calculate the shipping and send you an invoice after the auction, as Ebay's shipping calculator is only an estimate. Buyer has return privileges within 3 days of receipt, if item is not as described and is returned in identical condition as shipped, with return shipping and insurance at Buyer's expense.
