PC43. [World War Two]. Five vintage wine, brandy and whiskey labels from Iran (Persia). The labels were mailed home by a World War II soldier serving in Iran as a member of the Persian Gulf Command from 1943 to 1945. All labels have been folded in half. The first two labels listed are in POOR condition. 1. "Aristocratic No. 44. Ste. Alliance / Tehran - Tel. 6776 / Bottled especially for NAAFI." 3-3/4 x 4-1/2 inch, gold, black and blue color label. The upper right edge has completely separated. Soiled and toned. 2. "No. 6 Vin De Table Rouge - Viniculture 'Mars.'" 4 x 4-1/2 inch, green, yellow, and black label. Chipping and 2 inch tear in the middle of the label. Soiling and toning. The next 3 labels have minor edge chipping, tiny corner bends and light other wear; OW/ Very good condition. 3. "Grnad (sic) Liqueur Chartreuse - Ste. Demavand - Broudjerd." 3-3/8 x 3-5/8 inches. Green on yellow. Notation on back "Persian Brandy." 4. "Ste. Demavand" showing 3 black buffalo. Red and black on yellow. 3-1/2 x 4-1/2 inch. Notation on back "Buffalo - Russian Whiskey." 5. "Liqueur Cherry Brandy - Ste. Demavand" Broudjerd. Red, green, yellow, purple, and black. 3-3/8 x 5 inch.
