This is a true treasure from a family friend who is still living at 90 years old! She recalls passing by the Thorens store at the Empire State Building everyday and dreaming about owning this magnificent music box. In 1944 she finally decided to stop and inquire about the price and was told it was $21. They made arrangements for her to put it on layaway and pay $1 as she could afford. She has taken exceptional care of this music box all these years. Her husband (who is 98 years old!) and her have decided to part with some of their items. Here's the details: THORENS Automatic Disc Music Box Style No. AD30D 1944 Includes original advertising/tune list/flyer from Thoren’s Swiss Music Works… Sheet has been folded, with ink/pencil markings. Aprox 10” x 6” x 4” American Walnut box is in Very Good/Fine condition, with some small scratches, dings, and an overall light staining on the lid. Mechanism is in excellent condition, and works perfectly (takes a while for “stop” to engage)… No labels on/in box. 26 discs, Includes 2 Original complete sets (blue labels), bought at the same time as the Music Box… The discs are in Fine condition, with labels varying from perfect to some tears/wear… One label (noted below) is half torn off.
