Accepting bids for a spectacularly clear, panoramic photograph of US Liberator bombers from the 14th Air Force under the command of General Chenault bombing Hong Kong. Amazing photograph shows the harbour quite vividly, with ships and some buildings burning in the distance. This is an original 1944-made photograph from the US Air Force which was in the collection of long-defunct Washington D.C. newspaper, theWashington Evening Star. The guy Ibought these from worked at the newspaper and saved these from the trash when the paper decided to clean house some years after the war. According to him, the newspaper, as well as other local news organisations, received a much wider variety of press photos than other news organisations around the country due to their close proximity to the Department of War/War Information in Washington D.C. Hence, many of these may be quite rare. Great condition, save for some age warp.Size: 8 x 10 inches. Shipping $5 in US, $12 Europe/India/Far East. Please see my other auctions for similar photographs up this week.
