circa 1946 Gibson ES-300 - with Certification of Authenticity (current value listed @ $2250) (Special note: The authenticator says the Gibson logo is simply yellow from the yellowing of the lacquer. However, he did not take it to the sunlight, and the yellowing of the white binding does not look gold. The script logo looks very gold , and is straight across, which could indicate that, at least the neck of this guitar, is pre-war, which would make it worth much more!) No model or serial number stamps (as was common at this time). Body of laminated mahogany, 17” non-cutaway. Mohogany neck, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with white binding, pearl double parallelogram inlays, bound peghead with script Gibson and crown inlay. Kluson Deluxe tuners, tulip pegs, triple binding on the top and back edges of the body. Sunburst finish, single coil P-90 pickup in neck position, nickel plated metal Kluson hardware, and barrel shaped clear tone and volume knobs w/ no numbers. Electronics still work! Pickguard missing, bridge a later replacement. Guitar shows moderate wear and lacquer checking. Very straight neck, frets show very little wear. Scale 25 1/2". Nut width 1 3/4", depth 5/16". Picked this guitar up at a yard sale: suspect it has been used very little in its life so far. Some spoiled rich kid in the 40's got a gift not appreciated, as read more
