Original 1947 Washington State issued license plate. Made of aluminum. Painted green on bare aluminum. Paint did not adhere or last well. No painted border. "WASHINGTON 1947" on bottom of plate. Passenger) A round dot used between the county code and the numbers. On 5 digit plates, two round dots were used. Truck) Large "T" with small "k" for truck followed by the county code. The county code could be at any level; from the top of the "T" to the bottom of the "k." Trailer) Trailer plates had a large "TL" followed by a small county code. Misc) Exempt, private bus & for hire plates now using a two digit code that looks like county code and used until the end of 1957. No dashes like regular passenger plates.
