Sixty years ago this 1947 DECANOIS was published for the students of old DECATUR HIGH SCHOOL, Decatur, Illinois. The cover is ivory colored with red lettering on the front cover. The yearbook is in excellent condition considering age. The spine is strong. All pages are intact. Coach Gay Kinter was the basketball coach, baseall coach and athletic director. Geral Cox was the tennis coach. Dennis Berkey was head football coach and David Batthauer was his assistant. Francis A, ("Smock") White coached track. Among the football team were Jim Hazelrigg, Bob Kerwin, Dick Lockmiller, John Krigbaum, Ciney Rich. On the basketball team were Don Galka, Ciney Rich, and Roger Brady. Most popular seniors were Mary Maxwell and Richard Lockmiller. Best looking couple was Arlene Kiemer and Bill Rose. Most likely to succeed were Phyllis Bridgewater and James M. Butts.
