BRONZE SCULPTURE

GLADYS BROWN

Frame 14 x 18 inches

Horse-head 12 inches, bronze copper, detailed bit and bridge, even the reins are imprinted with leather-like detail.

Unsigned Gladys Brown

The horse appears to be the famous Champion Morgan of the 1940's which has also created bookends with the same horse. You can see the veins on the horse's head and rippling muscles. The horse has on a very fancy decorated bridle with all the conchos and engraved plates which are usually sterling silver in real life. The bridle is very fancy with the plate down the face of the horse and the reins are a leather-type with chains from the bit to the reins. The chain on one side from the bid to the rein is missing. This looks like it would be an easy fix.

The eyes and nostrils on the horse look real too. The mane and forelock is long and wavy, with so much detail you can see each hair strand. The whole horse head is bronze and the background a shiny brushed copper backing with wood frame.

Chain hanger on back, and the frame appears to be oak. The detail is beyond words.

The label on the back reads, Van Wormer & Rodrigues Inc, Manufacturing Jewelers, 126 Post St. San Francisco, "Distinctive Medals - Trophies - Pins"

This is a very special collectible for the horse lover and the artist Gladys Brown is world renown. T is much written about this famous California artist. Her creations include drawings, paintings, etchings and works in sculpture.
