"CHRISTMAS IS COMING" This rare, promotional giveaway is basically UNKNOWN for several reasons. To begin with, Overstreet lists it as "No publisher, early 50's?), when, in fact, it was produced in 1948 by Commercial Comics. According to company records, it had a VERY LIMITED number of comics printed, none bearing an imprint, and was used primarily as a sample comic for the fledging COMMERCIAL COMICS company to show other businesses, and probably helped sell the Democratic Party the famous TRUMAN comic for the 1948 Presidential election. The few thousand remaining copies from this original printing were distributed as a giveaway only at the "Toys'R Us" store in Falls Church, VA., after the Commercial Comics company had moved from New York to Washington. Script by the owner and founder of Commercial Comics, Malcolm Ater with art by Jack Sparling. So this book is EXCEEDINGLY RARE, not only from the very limited printing, but because it was one of the FIRST books produced by Commercial Comics and used as a selling point to help build up the company, which went on to become the largest producer of educational, promotional, and political comics in U.S. history! This 7x10, 16-page comic has pictues to color, LOTS AND LOTS of puzzles, and even shows you how to make a whirligig and an easy-to-make Chirstmas card. Obviously this comic preceeded the flurry of many Christmas and Santa comics that came out in the early 50's to 60's! This comic is virtually new and unread and all the puzzles, etc., are UNTOUCHED. T are no chips or tears, the book is securely bound and the pages nice and creamy. NM conditon! And it comes with a certificate of authenticity as being a file copy and coming directly from the personal collection and estate of Malcolm Ater, the President of Commercial Comics, and is signed by his son!
