This is the second listing for this item. The first time the highest bid was not close to what the ball is worth. Times are tough all around however, and I am keeping that in mind and lowering the reserve considerably. But as I mention below, I am not giving this ball away, and a couple hundred dollars is not going to buy it. It is, and the signatures are the real thing. 1948 AL Boston Red Sox Team signed Ball. The signatures on this ball have not been authenticated, however it is 100% legitemate. Because of this I am not inclined to offer "returns" on this ball. If however, the experts were to say it was not authentic I would not have any choice, but isn't going to happen. I have had this ball for probably 30 years. One of those stuck away in a box and never thought of again things. The individual who gave me this ball (and a few others), was the sort that had his own box seats at Dodger Stadium. I have four other LAD team balls that I have yet to sort through with Drysdale and Kofax signatures. I am not all that knowledgable re: baseball and I don't know the actual value of this ball. I have done some research, seen what older Ted Williams autographed items have sold for. Plus it is 60 years old, with 3 HOF signatures. I am selling it simply because I need the money, but you are going to have to "buy" it. I am not going to give it away, with the 3 HOF signatures, the age and condition of the ball I am confidant it is worth more than my reserve. I did not address insurance in the shipping information, for whatever reason could not enter a "valid amount", but will pay for that if sold. The signatures on the ball alphabetically are: Batts, Matt Catcher 1947-1951, DiMaggio, Dom Outfielder 1940-1953, Doerr, Bobby *HOF 2nd Base 1937-1951 , Ferriss, David Pitcher 1945-1950, Galehouse, Denny Pitcher 1948-1949, Goodman, Billy 2nd Base 1947-1957, Hughson, Tex Pitcher 1941-1949, Johnson, Earl Pitcher 1940-1950, Jones, Jake 1st Base 1947-1948, Kinder, Ellis Pitcher 1948-1955, Martin, Babe Outfielder 1948-1949, McCarthy, Joe *HOF Manager 1948-1950 , Merle, Sam Outfielder 1947-1949/1954-1955, Moses, Wally Outfielder 1946-1948, Parnell, Mel Pitcher 1947-1956, Pesky, Johnny Shortstop 1942-1952 (Manager 1963-1964/1980), Spence, Stan Outfielder 1940-1941/1948-1949, Stephens, Vern Shortstop 1948-1952 , Williams, Ted *HOF Outfielder 1939-1960 . The year of the ball determined by five players 1st season, and 2 players last season with the BRS. T is a "scuff" mark on the ball, and of course it is at the Ted Williams signature, but does not, in my opinion, diminish the signature or ball much if at all. The stitching is in excellent shape.
