antique original old time radio premium toy collectable 1948 Captain Midnight decoder { and his Secret Squadron) encryption device/ decoder. this is a scarce message decoder, these were used by listeners of the captain midnight show { the prime time am radio show } people used these to decipher the 'secret message' ,..... that was always broadcast at the end of every captain midnight program , the listener spun and turned the inner dials ,in order to figure out what the next weeks show would be about . This decoder is made of brass ,... with metal moveable disks held inside . it measures about 2." in diameter, the brass body has a knurled steel knob on the front and two encryption dials in the back the condition is excellent , it was well cared for all these years and came out of the collection of the original owner most of the time { if you are lucky enough to find one } you will find them dented and messed up -- NOT THIS ONE ! - this is near perfect ! a great radio show premium from 1948 don't pass it up !
