PSYCHO was Hitchcock's most popular suspense thriller. Janet Leigh's autograph is dated around 1948. In 1947, she signed with MGM Studios and starred in her first film, "Wild Harvest" opposite Van Johnson, a famed actor with MGM Studios. MGM Studios during the time of Janet Leigh's photograph was simply the largest and glamorous of the film studios. What makes Janet Leigh's autograph special is that it was signed to the daughter of Louis B. Mayer of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) studios, Susan (Susanne) Mayer. Louis B. Mayer was one of Hollywood's legendary filmmakers. He was the head of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) studios for over 27 years. As a studio boss, Louis B. Mayer built MGM Studios into the most financially successful motion picture studio in the world. In 1948, Louis B. Mayer married Lorena Danker and adopted Lorena's 12-year old daughter, Susanne Danker Mayer. The photo was taken by Clarence Bull, Hollywood's premiere celebrity photographer during the heyday of Hollywood movies.
