1949 Bowman Satchell Paige #224 PSA VG-EX 4

Pricing & History
1949 Bowman Satchell Paige #224 PSA VG-EX 4. His exploits both on and off the mound secured his rightful place in baseball history. Baseball's oldest rookie made his debut in 1949 with Bowman leading the way to get a portrait of the fabled pitcher into the hands of young card collecting gum chewers. Leaf made a valiant effort but was just too hard to find. This very nicely centered card with the haunting portrait of the man many feel should have been the first African-American to break the color barrier has been graded PSA VG-EX 4. Nothing unusual of note, anticipated corner wear for the grade and mild staining to the corners of the reverse. These appear to be from previous album storage. A solid mid-grade example of an important hobby entry. Grade: 40, Service: PSA, Service No.: 2008207
