1949 Dodge Wayfarer roadster convertible, first year of the last model of the Dodge one seat three passenger Wayfarer roadster convertibles produced 1949, 1950 and 1951, vin #D3017131, body #5098R, original identification plates on firewall, 115 inch wheel base, 3145 pounds, yellow exterior, black interior, white top, black boot, removeable fender skirts, 4 new Goodyear Decathalon 20575 R15 3/4 inch whitewall radial tires on black wheels, also have 4 Bedford 6.70 x 15 2 1/2 inch whitewall bias tires on yellow wheels, original full wheel hubcaps with red Dodge name, original 230 cu in, 103 hp, 6 cylinder engine (block #D30-171831), with original Chrysler/Carter carbureator with original oil air cleaner, original fluid drive transmission replaced with 1953 fluid drive transmission with overdrive (the overdrive transmission was not available until 1953), York Automotive Corporation air conditioner professionally installed with compressor mounted at right front of engine and blower mounted in trunk, no vent holes in dash, original 6 volt electrical system converted to 12 volt, manual canvas top with black aluminum top bows serviceable with clear rear window and 1 tear in left side, vent pane windows and roll up windows (early 1949 production had no vent pane windows and detachable windows), 2 piece front windshield, new exterior paint in excellent condition, all original exterior chrome and stainless including bumpers and bumperettes, grill, Dodge Ram hood ornament, center hood bar, windshield surround moldings, front fender moldings, left and right outside rear view mirrors, door handle guards, lower side moldings, rear fender moldings, rear fender stone guards, rear center combination trunk lock, license light and tail light, tail pipe extension, original stone guard between body and front and rear bumpers, Dodge name on front and rear and Dodge badge on front, Wayfarer Fluid Drive emblems on sides, new leather interior in perfect condition including seat upholstry, door panel upholstry and carpet, deluxe steering wheel with black leather wrap, horn ring and gold Dodge emblem horn button for duel horns, Allstate turn singles, dash painted black with gold Dodge emblem, all square guages operate and have square gold centers, 2 light switches, cigarette lighter, windshield wipers, heater and defroster controls, ashtray, clock, locking glove box, original Chrsyler AM radio and speaker in dash with gold Dodge emblem and fender antenna, new Auistar AM/FM stereo radio with clock mounted under right side of dash with 4 new speakers mounted in kick panels and behind seat, Midland CB radio mounted under left side of dash with magnetic antenna stowed in trunk when not in use, reproduction 1 piece black rubber floor mat with Dodge emblem, spring loaded folding window regulator handles, adjustable seat, inside hood release, inside rear view mirror, sun visors, cowl air vent with screen, front and rear license plate brackets, the 2 modifications from original which are overdrive transmission and air conditioning make this a very functional car, to be complete requires trunk back and side material and trunk mat, this 55 year old car with commanding chrome grill, chrome and stainless body accents, sloped windshield, no rear seat, long trunk, and fender skirts in very popular yellow and black color combination is very sporty, the engine is surprisingly powerful and quiet, the transmission is very smooth and quiet, it begs to be driven to cruise nights or down the highway, "said to have been as gay as a circus poster and as nimble as a polo pony, the little Wayfarer roadster", The Dodge Story, by Thomas McPherson, 1992, pages 148 to 159, in 1949 there were 5420 produced, in 1950 there were 2903 produced, in 1951 there were 1002 produced, 120000 miles, expertly restored, very rare.
