f106-20 8x12 194th FIS F-106 Delta Dart Fires Rocket 8 x 12 Photograph on Fujifilm Paper A Convair F-106 Delta Dart aircraft from the 194th Fighter Interceptor Squadron of the California Air National Guard fires an ATR-2A missile near Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. The ATR-2A is a training version of the AIR-2A Genie unguided rocket. The F-106 all-weather interceptor began life as the F-102B. Because the F-102B had extensive structural differences and a more powerful engine than the F-102, it was redesignated the F-106. The first F-106A flew on December 26th, 1956. First delivered to the Air Force in July 1959, production ended in late 1960 after 277 F-106As and 63 F-106Bs had been built.
