Late 1950s / Early 60s Slingerland Drum Set in original Black Diamond Pearl . Sizes are 14x22 bass, 16x16 floor tom, 8x12 tom, and matching 5.5x14 Radio King solid shell snare drum. Chrome over brass hoops, black and gold Chicago oval badges on bass and snare (toms were not outfitted with badges). Bass and toms have 3 ply shells, with dark mahogany interior and maple reinforcing rings, and no extra holes or modifications. Interior date stamps are present but illegible. Snare drum has 8 lugs and a single ply shell with natural maple interior. The snare originally had a three point strainer and extension bridge and butt plate, which were replaced with a Slingerland Rapid strainer and a generic butt plate. The sound of this solid shell is incredible! Bearing edges look typical for their age, and chrome is very nice overall, with usual light pitting wear, mostly on the bass drum tension rods. Batter side bass tension rods are 60s era, and one of the spurs and some tom tension rods are non-original. This is a beautiful looking drum set that tunes up easily and has a warm, vintage sound. Snare stand not included. A great deal on a classic set of Chicago era Slingerland drums!
