TOLEWARE goes back to the 1700s, and is a special artform, called the 'one stroke style', w the artist loads his brush with different colors at one time, and creates a leaf, petal or scroll all with just one stroke. It is quite difficult to master, but this was a quick way to paint pottery, and was used to decorate furniture, pottery and trays, called 'tea boards', and the French word for board is 'tole'. This has a label on the back with a 'zone' address, instead of a zip code, so it dates before 1963, and amazing has been used for years, and it still looks great. T are some scratches and paint loss, but as you can see by the photos, it still quite lovely. It is signed ROY, and as mentioned the tag on the back reads HAND PAINTED NASH CO, NEW YORK 3, NY. It measures 15" by 20". A nice addition for the collector.
