This Intermediate Girl Scout Badge is HOUSEKEEPER, and it is #4 or ME (Marrow Edged) with a dark green border. This is one of the badges that becomes harder to find the later the date. Journalism was more popular in the 1930s and40s than in present day. This is in Like New Condition. Most of my Intermediate Badges are Mint or Excellent Used Condition (see below for Condition Definitions) . Background Information on Intermediate Badges from 1938 to 1963 roughly as follows : 1. 1938-1947: Silver Green fabric with extra material to “crimp” under Comes in Black stitching on the back OR White stitching on the back. 2. 1948-1954: Comes with the background ‘covert’ fabric of the Bright Medium Green Intermediate Uniform that most over-60 adults earned. Has extra material to “crimp” under. 3. 1954 Only: West Coast Cut or BMG Cut: Prototype Marrow Edged Badge. Same ‘covert’ fabric in front, but much smaller in size than the next issue of badges. MUST have a cheesecloth backing and a wide border of DARK green thread. 4. 1955-1960: Comes with the same ‘covert’ or speckled fabric with the edge of the badge sewn completely around in a small border of stitching. Comes with a Light Green border (thought to be leftover thread from the BMG badges,) and Dark Green border. 5. 1960-1963: Background material changed to a Light Green fabric that matches the 1963 Junior Uniform. The badges that were discontinued or sent to Cadettes with a yellow border in 1963, are VERY HARD TO FIND in the old design. To summarize, there were THREE places the Intermediate badges were sent: a) Stayed exactly the same with a possible Name Change as a Junior Badge b) Changed to a Cadette Level Badge with a bright YELLOW border. c) Design permanently Discontinued Condition Definitions : · MINT: New from the factory. Never been sewn or glued.
