1950s THE SHADOW Character Based ASA 'Spook' Ceramic Figurine - Rare! Here’s a circa 1950s vintage figural ceramic figurine of THE SHADOW - German made (humorously as I understand it) for Special Operations members. This ASA (Army Security Agency) 'Shadow Operator' or 'Spook' piece is based on the Radio/Pulp character. It was not made in the 1940s, but mid to late 1950s. This incorrect information I'd previously read on this item came from HAKE’S AMERICANA and DIAMOND INTERNATIONAL GALLERIES. The 7.5" tall ceramic figure done mostly in solid black is of the Shadow in hat, wrapped in cloak and holding a dagger. Another example of this character I've seen was made of carved wood (also late 50s Germany ). Overall in extremely nice shape. The name of the original owner (Rowland C. Marvel) is painted in gold on the base edge. I believe these were special order pieces, not a regular production piece. I've seen about a half dozen of these sold in the last 10 years. There are variations, hence my special order theory. USASAE stands for United States Army Security Agency Europe. Marked - Made by K. Pech - Kronach Germany on bottom. Cool piece! Note : I currently have the matching brass pin in my store. All items within the United States shipped Insured with USPS Delivery Confirmation. Florida residents please add 6.5% sales tax.
