1950's Vintage Hand Embroidered & Lace Trim Standard Pillow Case (3) ITEM DESCRIPTION: You are looking at (3) Hand Sewn 1950âe(tm)s vintage pillowcases. (1) Hand embroidered with Pink & Green thread around a Pink fabric Rose. (2) 1950âe(tm)s white cotton with a pretty white lace trim. These 3 lovely vintage, standard, pillow cases are all in Excellent Condition having no rips, holes, tears, thinning fabric, missing threads, stains, marks or other signs of wear and tear. These Pillow Cases would make a lovely addition, to display, in your vintage textile collection, or to use in your home. HISTORY: My grandmother lived in Louisiana (1886 - 1977) she was a master seamstress who was well known for the quality of her work. Her daughter, my aunt (1913 - 1997), was not a Master Seamstress like her Mother, but she did very much enjoy doing embroidery work and was very good at it. When she was a girl she was a regular in Mamaw's quilting circle. "She would embroider while the other ladies quilted." She was well schooled in the art of embroidery by my Grandmother who always said "You can tell the quality of a seamstress's work by looking, not at the front but, at the underside of her work." She insisted that in the best quality, hand embroidered, items the stitching on the underside should appear clean having no loose threads and no messy irregular stitching.
