This is a beautiful piece of SIGNED Walter Moorcroft pottery dating from around 1953 -... I can date this piece quite specifically as it has on the base the remnants of an old paper label which reads ..... The Late Queen Mary (she died just before our Queen's coronation) - so this piece is now just about 60 years old... what I would call ... a diamond piece! The base also has the big scrolling signature you see on Walter Moorcroft pieces - and it is also marked Made in England - and Moorcroft. It is a lovely timeless design and has either the Clematis or Anemone pattern on the base - I cant quite make up my mind which pattern it is from looking at other examples currently listed ... as they both look rather similar in design.. The pattern runs all around the base section with pinky-plum billowing flowers on one side, joined at the side with more simple white petals and blooms - and a repeat of the floral design on the back... It is in lovely condition and I have given the lamp very close inspection and can find no damages of any sort - there is a very, very slight crazing to the glaze which you only see if you look very closely with a glass or close up in daylight - but very minor in nature and commensurate with a piece nearly 60 years old... in no way distracting or would cause you any disappointment... There are no cracks, chips, read more
