1951 GROSSMAN PARAMOUNT STAMP ALBUM WITH 7, 928 STAMPS

This auction consists of a red, 2", hardbound 1951 Grossman Paramount stamp album and 7,928 stamps.

This delightful 600 page album is in good shape. The covers and spine show moderate wear at the corners and edges and the inside hinge areas have been reglued. The album is still serviceable and will last for another 60 years with a little tlc.

The pages are toned around the edges as is typical of this aged album. There are a some hinge rems and the USA section has pencil (and a few pen) notations of the Scott # and value above and/or below maybe 50 stamp images. I do not remember pencil notations elsewhere in the album.

Due to the large number of stamps the album is now over 4" thick at the outside edge. The outside edge can be squeezed to about 2 1/2" but that causes the top cover to bow slightly and puts a strain on the spine. My guess is anyone buying this album is doing so for the number of stamps and not the old binder.

Page 549 (Salvador. Misc'l Issues) was torn and repaired with an old brownish tape which has stained that page and page 548 but none of the stamps are stained.

In the rear of the album there is a country page index that is most helpful. The stamps are all hinged. Most stamps are pre-1950 but there are many nice stamps that go into mid-1950s.
