Matson Lines Menu You are bidding on a gorgeous, vintage Matson Lines menu featuring timeless art by Eugene Savage. This particular menu was issued for Dinner on Wednesday, March 5, 1952, aboard the S.S. Lurline. The cover painting is titled "A God Appears," depicting the 2nd visit by Captain Cook to the Hawaiian Islands in 1779, at Kealakakua Bay on the Kona Coast of the Big Island, weeks before his death at the same beach. The closed menu measures about 13 3/4" tall x 10 1/2" wide. Unfolded, it is about 21" wide. The menu is in excellent, collectible condition. The inside of the menu has some darkening, but the cover art is clean and vibrant. It has a small corner ding, 2 light corner bends (not creases), a couple small wrinkles, and light general wear. The spine of the menu has a few wrinkles, and moderate rubbing wear, resulting in a mostly complete image when unfolded (lower half shows more rubbing wear, and one of the spine wrinkles in upper half has some surface rubbing). It is still quite nice and ready for framing and display. Please see our other auctions for more pieces of high-quality, vintage Hawaiiana. PLEASE NOTE: If t is a discrepancy between the shipping costs listed in the body of the auction and the amount listed in the pre-filled auction details section, the higher amount will apply.
