Up for auction is a 1953 Bowman Color 156-card near set. Only 4 cards are missing for the complete 160-card set: #44 Bauer/Berra/Mantle, 114 Bob Feller, 118 Billy Martin, 121 Yogi Berra. All of the other cards are t, including both the Mickey Mantle and Pee Wee Reese cards. Overall condition of this set averages out conservatively to around a VG, with some better and some worse. The star cards do tend to be lower grade, with most showing creasing. #59 Mickey Mantle is creased across the middle, as is #33 Pee Wee Reese. Both cards are otherwise solid with solid centering, light to moderate corner wear, and beautiful color and gloss. The Ford, Musial, and Snider cards are creased as well. The Spahn card is the only card that looks trimmed. None of the other cards look altered.
This set does include many nice cards that are uncreased and that look significantly better than VG. I would estimate the breakdown of this set as follows: approximately 40% VG-EX or better with no major creasing or flaws, 30% VG with some wear or light creasing, and 30% worse. T are some cards that show some heavy creasing, light paper loss, or wear, but the vast majority are overall in very presentable condition. The majority of these cards are well-centered with beautiful color and gloss and strong eye appeal! Take a look at the pictures and scans for some of the cards included. All cards shown are actual cards from this set. Cards are all stored in toploaders and will be shipped securely that way. Terms of sale: I accept Paypal, money orders, and checks. Paypal payments over $100 must come from confirmed addresses. Checks take up to 5 business days to clear. Shipping and handling is a flat $15.00 to anyw in the US and will be combined on multiple auctions won.
