I am fairly certain that this is a L-48. the serial number is a Y serial indicating a 1953 Gibson. This is a factory second and the 2 stamp at the top of the head stock has been gouged out but still is slightly visible. I will not lie it's in rough shape and well played. No pickguard came with this guitar to me. Major checking and some lifting of the finish on the lower bout and waist where the binding has had a very amateur re-glue. There is a crack below the binding on the top bass side shoulder from the neck to the side but stops at the waist and looks like it was reglued a looooong time ago and needs to be redone. The top where the bridge rests looks to be caving just a bit but it is holding strong. there are no cracks in the top and it is not con-caved. Looks A braced. I've strung it with Acoustic brass wound 10's. Truss rod works fine and adjusts well keeping the neck straight and I do have the truss rod cover but not the screws. In my opinion it will need a neck reset to be 100% as it starts to buzz at the 14th fret. other than that it plays very easily and sounds amazing! These old Gibson archtop guitars carry a tone all their own. This guitar
