You are bidding on a 1953 RICE OWLS vs HARDIN SIMMONS COWBOYS SOUVENIR FOOTBALL PROGRAM. The game was played at Rice Stadium in Houston, Texas on October 10, 1953. This was one of the greatest Rice University football teams as they won the Southwest Conference finishing the season 8 and 2. They played the University of Alabama in the Cotton Bowl that had the Tommy Lewis incident of coming off the bench to tackle Dicky Maegle. The Owls were led by their legendary head coach Jess Neely and All American Kosse Johnson. Rice won the game 40 to 0. Hardin Simmons had the great Sammy Baugh as an assistant coach. The program is complete with rosters, starting line ups and player photos. The program is in very good condition with no torn, loose or soiled pages.. A nice addition to any Rice Owl collection.
