is a original vintage May 1953 (Vol. 1, No. 1) issue of Rods and Customs magazine. This is the rare first issue of what became Rod and Custom magazine (they dropped the "s" on the second issue forward). It has 66 pages and measures 5.5" by 8". It contains many photos and articles from the early days of hot rodding, including a '51 Olds custom built by George and Sam Barris, a cover story on a '32 Ford flathead roadster, a nice spread on a '32 Ford 3 window hot rod coupe, same on Don Ferrara's AV8 roadster, some nice photos of various customs including a few more cars by Barris and a great spread on pre-war customs. It's in overall good original condition for being nearly 60 years old, with the cover showing some typical age wear (mostly along the spine). The staples are intact (but the cover is only held on by one staple) and the interior is clean, with no torn nor missing pages. This is a great reference for building a period perfect '32 Ford flathead roadster, AV8 or other vintage hot rod/custom car. PLEASE SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE VINTAGE RACING/HOT ROD/CUSTOM RELATED PARTS AND MEMORABILIA TO BE LISTED SHORTLY. Thanks for looking, Chris.
