New Old Stock!! Never Issued!!!! These are not re-painted or reconditioned!! Up for auction is this set of two 1953 Passenger Car, Truck License Plates, in excellent condition!! This is THE Best pair I have! These plates can be assigned to any 1953 Car, Truck, that is registered as a Classic or Antique. The best way to do it is as an Antique. Then t is no State inspection required, tfore no window sticker in your windshield. Also if registered as an Antique, you will receive a small metal tab with a small sticker on it from the registration office that goes on the rear of the vehicle. This replaces the registration stickers we all have in our windshield lower corner today. The result..... No stickers required in the windshield of your Antique registered Show Truck and of course a better looking "Clean" windshield for that car / truck show Judge. The Texas Vehicle Licensing Office allows a Car, Pickup Truck that is registared as a Classic or Antique to use plates that show the same year stamped into the metal plate as the year model of the vehicle. El Camino and Ranchero owners have the best luck. They can use Truck, Farm Truck or regular passenger vehicle plates, "3 options". To registar as an Antique it is only Approximately $60.00 for the registartion that is good for 5 years. All antique plates in Texas have a current expiration date of 31 March 2008. So if you are not already registared in this way, and you go to have these plates assigned to your truck. You will only pay a pro-rated amount for you registration to get it to March 2008. Approximately only $12.00-$15.00 at this time and then begin another $60.00 cycle like everyone else in March of 08. This set is THE BEST that I have!!
T is only one very tiny imperfection which can be seen on the lower (#2) plate in the lower right corner. T is a very slight nick in the paint. It is the tiny shinny spot that can be seen below the picture time date stamp. Otherwise, these plates are flawless. They even have the original paper that was put in between them after manufacturing at teh prison. These plates have been stored for 54 years and have been well taken care of and are now ready to go on your classic 1953 Show Car or Truck. The above listed flaw can be easily touched up. Please look closely at the pictures and zoom in on these areas. The pictures were taken with a very good camera and if you copy the picture into you hard drive, you can magnify it many times without distortion. T are no screw marks on any of the mounting holes. You can see very light streaking of the paint from when the prisoners dipped these plates in 1953 and they dried by hanging at an angle. This is one tell tail sign that these are original plates and not reconditioned. All Texas license plates were hung to dry this way until 1969, when the reflective material was put on them. These have never been on a vehicle, and are in The Best shape. You won't find a better pair anyw!! Refer to the plate on the top of the first picture as plate # 1 and the lower plate in the photo as plate # 2. Bid with confidence, this is a beautiful set of plates!! Please see my other auctions!!
