Up for auction is an ultra rare and complete 100 card set of 1954-55 Parkhurst Hockey vintage. This was the last year Parkhurst would include all of the original six teams before the evil Topps Company(from Brooklyn) would take away the American teams(Boston, Chicago, Detroit, New York) in the following seasons to come. Anyway, the overall set grades VG to EX+ very consistently. Cards 1 to 15 are Montreal Canadiens with #1(McNeil) and 12(Mosdell)having rounded corners, but the remainder of the team in EX to EX+ shape(including 3(Beliveau), 7(Rocket Richard), 8(Geoffrion) and 14(Harvey). Cards 16 to 32 are Toronto Maple Leafs with 16(McNeil), 23(Stewart), 24(Armstong), 25(Balfour), 29(Kennedy) and 31(Horton) have somewhat rounded corners(VG to VG+ condition) but the remainder of the team in better grade. Cards 33 to 48 are Detroit Red Wings with 33(Sawchuk), 38(Woit), 39(Goldham), 41(Gordie Howe) and 47(Keith Allen-longtime Flyers GM) having mild-to-moderate corner wear(VG to VG+ condition) but the remainder of the team in better grade. Cards 49 to 64 are Boston Bruins with 53(Gardner) having VG+ to VGEX corners and 59(Milt Scmidt) the only card in the entire set to have a horizontal crease through the middle of the card, but the remainder of the team in gorgeous EX to EXMT shape. Cards 65 to 76 are the pitiful New York Rangers(having the least amount of cards in the set) and a 30 year old rookie Johnny Bower(65-RC) in EX condition. Cards 70(Harry Howell), 72(Jack Evans) and 73(Camille Henry) has VG+/VGEX corners, and cards 74(Prentice) and 75(Mickoski) having VG/VG+ corners. Cards 77 to 88 are Chicago Black Hawks with most of the cards in VGEX or better shape except 79(paper loss to top right corner), 85(right lower corner crease), 87(Gadsby with 2 holes punched in the mid-lower portion of card and some corner dents) and 88(VG corners). Cards 89 to 100 are action cards all are in pretty nice condition with 88 to 94 and 97 having VG/VGEX corners, and cards 95, 96, 98 to 100 having better corners. See scan for details.
