10 1/2" x 7" Metal cylinder shaped 1955 Gordon's Potato Chip "Stay Fresh" factory tin. Unique red and white Gordon's Potato Chip country store storage tin that has the Gordon's panel truck finial logo on top. The red glass finial panel truck is embossed with the company's name "Gordon's" on both side and houses "Blue Magic" crystals inside to absorb moisture in the container. The finial can be unscrewed from the top lid and under the lid are factory "Directions" on its usage and how to treat the crystals for rejuvenating them to be continually reused. When this is done it states "Gordon Ever Fresh Can will keep crackers, potato chips, popcorn, peanuts, dry cereals and many other goods crisp and tasty." The lid pressure fits on the body. The tin has not been repainted and originally was this solid off white color. This tin never had any graphic on the outside. I know this as it is pictured exactly like this with its original box in "The Country Store Counter Jars and Tins" collector's guide by Steve Batson on page 37. The tin is in very good condition with no dents or major scratches. The glass finial is not chipped or cracked. The body of the tin has several areas of small scratches and the inside has some light surface rust. Overall fresh appearance and this is one of the rarer Gordon's Chips tins.
