This is a rare, very odd educational comic book by THE TILE COUNCIL OF AMERICA called "TIPS ON BETTER TILE SETTING" which was part of a series (THE CASE OF THE CAREFUL MECHANIC) that taught you HOW TO PROPERLY TILE YOUR HOME or someone else's if you are professional tiler! This is a 1950s DO IT YOURSELF book that discusses the JOB OF THE CARPENTER and the PLUMBER and how to make sure the did things correctly before you start work. It even discusses DROP CLOTH use to save your bath and sink from paint and plaster. We then go on to SOAKING THE TILES and check out our proportions of CEMENT WATER for the SCRATCH COAT, SETTING BED and the FLOOR. The wall is moistened, cement mixed and then the MORTAR SETTING BED goes on (btw LOTS OF TIPS given in between the work like putting slits in the float coat so it can shrink without cracking)...now get ready to set the tile. the cement coat should be NO MORE than 1/32" thick and it can either be put directly on the wall or on the tile itself...if you cut tile always make sure the edge is dull or people will cut themselves and the glaze will flake off. Finally you get to use a WATERPROOF GROUT (NO PORTLAND CEMENT WHICH SHRINKS and CRACKS as a grout) and finally get rid of excess grout - leave a nice finish and leave your customers happy! The comic is in very high grade with exception to the top
