DESCRIPTION "They invented the All-Star game for Willie Mays." - Ted Williams That’s the famous quote by one of the greatest in regards to another great - after May’s ‘other’ famous catch which is depicted in this Vintage 1955 Wire Photo issued by United Press Associations showing Willie Mays of the San Francisco Giants robbing Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox of a home run during the 1955 All-Star Game in County Stadium in Milwaukee. It was just last year that Mays electrified baseball fans with his World Series catch in Game 1 and on that afternoon in the mid-summer classic, Mays gave everyone (but Ted) another treat for the eyes ! Original press stamp on the verso of this 6-3/4” x 10” photo that was used in newspaper publication at the time the event happened and has the newspaper clipping with stamp date of JUL 13 1955 below it along with three other stamp dates, most likely used again as it was so good to see Mays grab over and over again.
