1956 Cunard Line Elkington Silver Plate Butter Dish

A rare fully marked Elkington Plate 2 piece silverplate chilled butter dish used on the Cunard Line. Mark appears on both pieces. Has a pierced geometric top. Ice is contained in the lower dish, below the lid. Butter is pushed through the top and makes interesting geometric shapes. Has stair stepped handles. Made in England. Has the Elkington date code "U" in a shield which, I believe, dates it to the 1950's (1956).
About 3 7/8" in diameter x 1 1/4" high. In good condition. Shows light wear only. Silver plating is intact. What looks like a stain in the picture is a shadow. Cleans up beautifully.
