For sale today is an absolute gem, a gorgeous 1957 Mt. Vernon Bach Stradivarius D trumpet with the very sought-after 244 bell purchased from a member of the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra. This trumpet was hand made over 50 years ago (16,XXX) and is in incredible condition, all original minus the pads, which are brand new, and has matching serial numbers on the valves, valve caps, and valve casing. The valves are a tight fit and do not leak, the slides are all very good, and compression is excellent. The horn features a period correct reversed third slides stop rod and an original first ring. There is one small ping in the bell that has been repaired, which is the most trauma the horn has ever seen, and it is easily an overall 9+ out of 10. According to my caliper, the Stradivarius measures in at a comfortable .450" bore, the same as a Schilke E3L but with a much resonant sound. This trumpet is monster player with the rich, colorful, and projected sound associated with the Mt. Vernon period. Response is very fast and intonation is spot on, requiring no alternate fingerings. A D trumpet is a must for any serious orchestral player and this horn is perfect for the Bach, Handel, and most chamber works, but would fit in perfect in an orchestra section, or as a fuller bodied alternative to the piccolo trumpet. It is truly the best playing D I've ever used, perfect for all the quickly approaching seasonal repertoire, The Messiah, B-minor Mass, The Trumpet Shall Sound, and so many others! A very rare find for a very good price and right in time to put it to good use! Don't miss out on this rare opportunity!
