1958-59 LIONEL O-SCALE #212 UNITED STATES MARINE CORP ALCO A-UNIT DIESEL LOCO WITH ORIGINAL BOX & OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSThis LIONEL O-SCALE #212 UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS ALCO A-UNIT DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE WITH ORIGINAL BOX & OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS was manufactured by the Lionel Corporation in New York during the period 1958-1959. Features of the locomotive include: Overall length approximately 10-1/2"; highly detailed molded red plastic body shell with closed pilot painted dark blue with two horizontal white stripes along the panel lines; simulated fan with screen in rear roof section; white heat-stamped lettering "UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS", "BUILT BY" over "LIONEL" & the catalog number "212"; single axle Magnetraction; two-position E-unit; operating headlight; decorative one piece horn on top of cab; black oxide treated or blued stamped & formed sheet-steel frame with black molded plastic simulated fuel tank incorporating simulated ladder steps below center body door on both sides; front truck has dual spring-loaded roller collectors; powered truck has plastic letter embossing "LIONEL" over "DIESEL SWITCHER" over "THE LIONEL CORPORATION, N.Y." over "MADE IN THE U.S. OF AMERICA" and both trucks feature detailed molded Delrin plastic side frames.
