This auction is for an ORIGINAL 1959 HOME RUN DERBY HANK AARON MILWAUKEE BRAVES . This 20 card unnumbered set was produced by American Motors to publicize the HOME RUN DERBY Television program . The cards measure approx. 3 1/4" x 5 1/4" and feature glossy black and white player photos. Hank Aaron is one of the key cards in the set. Lesser condition card. Top of this card has some staining and light warping. Bottom right corner has a tiny round stain. 1 1/2" inches up from the bottom right corner is a small tear on the border. Other surface wear. Back has damage from scrapbook removal. T is a "6" written in pen on the back upper left corner. Aaron was born Feb. 5, 1934, Mobile, Al , a baseball player, one of the greatest in professional baseball. After playing briefly in the Negro leagues and then in the minor leagues, Aaron was moved up to the majors as an outfielder with the Milwaukee Braves in 1954. Won the MVP in 1957 leading the Milwaukee Braves to the World Series Championship . By the time the Braves moved to Atlanta, Ga., in 1965, Aaron had hit 398 home runs; in 1974 he hit his 715th, breaking Babe Ruth's record. He played his final two seasons (1975-76) with the Milwaukee Brewers. Aaron's records for career home runs (755), extra-base hits (1,477), and runs batted in (2,297) remain unbroken, and only Ty Cobb and Pete Rose exceed him in career hits (3,771).
