1959 Vintage Kay Swingmaster Guitar =@@@ SEE VIDEO @@@= Thank you for visiting our auction! This is a real nice 1959 Kay Swing master Jazz box in great original condition. The date codes on the Potentiometers are 134938. The finish has the natural checking of instruments this age. It looks to have had a neck reset, as the neck joint has a custom tortoise shell heal decoration added, and has been touched up with brown.(see pics.) The neck joint is very tight with no movement, so I am sure it was professional job. The Swing master has the solid spruce top, and curly maple back and sides. It has the desirable Kluson Deluxe Tuners, and the ever famous DeArmond "Speed-Bump" pickups, sometimes mistaken as the Gibson P-13. The DeArmond S-B pickups are a bit better in my opinion, as they have a very distinct bite, and growl that is close to the Gibson P-90. This also has the original, "Made in Germany" Tail-piece that is much more stable than the standard tail-pieces on the cheaper models, and tfore keeps it's tuning much better. As you can hear in the video, this makes the ultimate Jazz box, but is delightfully strong in the blues category. The guitar was made with the same quality as the comparable Gibson and Gretsch jazz guitars, but can be bought for half the price.
