1960 Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds Program Forbes Field, July 17 Final scores - Red s 6 - Pirates 5 (Game 1) Pirates 5 - Reds 0 (Game 2, scored in pencil) 20 pages. Lineups and scoring in pencil. Excellent condition. Tight binding, glossy pages. Minimal wear. Other than the scoring, the pages are clean. No bends, folds, tears or creases. 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates program - This great Pirates program from their World Championship season of 1960. It's from a mid-July Sunday doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds. The clubs split the twinbill. The Reds won the opener, 6-5, behind Bob Purkey, as the Cincinnati lineup collected 16 hits. Pittsburgh's Tom Cheney turned things around in the nightcap, as he held the Reds to four hits. Don Newcombe was the scheduled starting pitcher for the Reds, but he didn't start, and Cal McLish was the emergency starter. Pittsburgh's Bill Virdon provided the only run the club would need with a solo homer in the first. He knocked in a run later, and Don Hoak also knocked in a pair. Cheney helped his own cause with an RBI double. The program includes photos and brief bios of Bill Mazeroski, Roberto Clemente and Fred Green.
