Relatively few Venezuelan Topps cards have survived over the years. For one thing, they were produced in limited quantities. As all the price guides say, these cards are next-to-impossible to find in excellent or better condition since most of the Venezuelan cards were glued or taped into albums. That's why when you ever are lucky enough to find them, they almost always have front or back damage and grade in poor or good condition. Fortunately, while this Yaz Rookie is graded PSA 1, t is no paper loss, glue stains or tape stains. By the way, the difference between this Venezuelan Rookie and his American Rookie is that his Venezuelan card has a matted finish while his American card has a glossy finish. When Carl Yastrzemski retired in 1983 after 23 seasons in Boston, he was the all-time Red Sox leader in eight major categories -- games, at-bats, runs, hits, doubles, total bases, RBI and extra base hits. An intense performer, Yaz played in more games (3,308) than any other American Leaguer, topping 3,000 hits and 400 home runs. A three-time batting champion, he was the American League MVP in 1967 when he won the Triple Crown, the last player to achieve the feat. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1989.
