1960 Williams Nags Single Player Woodrail Pinball Machine with Backbox and Playfield Animation: And they're off! This is a great machine for the horseracing fan or horse lover. The graphics depict horses and horseracing everyw: the sides and front of the cabinet, the backglass, the playfield and plastics, and best of all, in an animated horse race that progresses in the backbox as you are playing the game! T are six horses (with names of Real George, Dream Boat, Stinky, Bashful, Flippy, and Glamour Puss) that reset back to the starting line on the right side of the backbox and then "run" down the track as you hit certain targets on the playfield. The first one that reaches the finish line on the left side is the winner. At the start of each game, a random horse is selected as YOUR horse. You try to hit the playfield targets that advance your horse, but be careful! As you hit a certain rollover lane on the playfield, that original horse can be changed to another one! If your selected horse wins the race, you win some free games. T is also a "score" that is kept during the game on the backglass, and you can also win replays for a high score, but the main objective in this game is to make "your" horse win the animated race! T is a nice strategy (and skill) involved in trying to make your selected horse run down the track and win in order to be awarded some replays! The REAL unique playfield feature that this machine has is a ROTATING platform of six round pop bumpers! During the game, this platform continuously rotates, repositioning the six numbered pop bumpers at all times. So you can't "zero in" on aiming for a specific numbered bumper to make your horse advance because that specific bumper continuously moves during the game! That is a GREAT and UNIQUE feature that may ONLY be offered on Nags. But in addition to the great animation in the horserace and rotating pop bumpers, the period graphics also make this an outstanding machine to add to any gameroom or collection. The overall GREAT cosmetics of this machine make it an ideal addition to any gameroom or collection. Although this machine is technically unshopped, it has been in one of our gamerooms for a few years. At this point, the machine has sat idle for at least a year without being played even one game (a real contributing factor as to why I've decided to try and sell it at this point!) Upon firing it up now, it is acting like a spoiled child who hasn't had any attention in a year, and it hasn't! It is playing through a game but has some mechanical glitches that will either need to be resolved or maybe they will resolve themselves just by continuing to play it more. Sometimes it is failing to spring into action when you press the credit button. (I seem to have this traced back to a contact on the score motor so it seems to be working MOST times, but occasionally will still fail to fire. Once reset and in motion, the machine does play through a complete game with all playfield and animation features working correctly until a horse reaches the finish line, then the machine goes to game over like it should. A couple of the horses (#3 comes to mind) seem to move with all other horses most times, even when they shouldn't be moving, but sometimes they only move when they should. And a couple of the horses (#5 for this one) sometimes get stuck "on" when they are activated and continue to run until they reach the finish line, rather that just advancing a step at a time like they should. Prior to the year of being idle, it was working perfectly! Non-use is the enemy of EM machines, so it's time for this machine to move on to another collector who can give it more attention than I can. I do have a copy of the schematic to include with the machine to aid any trouble-shooting that you may have! The backglass is a new reproduction and is about as close to perfect as you'll find.
