Coca Cola bottles were originally distributed in wooden boxes. You've all seen them, they come in mostly red and some in yellow older boxes. What do you do with them. You burn them, ouch, or I've seen wagons made, that's good. But this is a smaller piece you can put anywhere inside or out to remind us of a by gone era. This item is a bird house I made entirely from the wood from an old red Coca Cola crate. Even the bottle impressions are on the back from the original bottom of the crate. The only part that is not from the original crate are the 3 screws to hold the bottom up, and the roof on. The entrance is the original handle of the crate. On one side, it states, "Coca", and the other, "Cola".The original crates came from South Carolina and Tennessee, and are from the early 1960's. The pieces were nailed together with their original nails. If you choose to house the birds, it has 1 screw on the bottom to clean out the house. This birdhouse has plenty of patina. Just look at the beauty and the work that this crate has done over the years. To help preserve it even longer, I have sprayed it with polyurethane. If you choose not to use this Coca Cola roof, I have others from several states, Florida, Ma, Maine, Tenn, Oregon, Ohio, Texas, New Jersey, Nevada, Michigan, New Hampshire, Georgia, U.S. Gov't, and a maple leaf from Canada.
