You are bidding on an original Vietnam Era deck jacket from the US Navy Cold War Era Nuclear Submarine USS Swordfish SSN-579. The jacket was obtained by myself around 20 years ago from the veteran while I was stationed in Groton CT. The jacket has a wool liner and a button down / zipper front. The zipper pull is missing, however the zipper tracks are in perfect shape with no missing teeth. The front of the jacket features an original period patch that measures 5 inches tall by 4 inches wide. The jackets reverse side has what he described as a bored on WESTPAC painting of the boat at sea. He painted it on the jacket while in Japan. As for the size, it is not marked on the original tag in the collar but it appears to be a size large. Here are some measurements. 30 inches from top of collar to bottom of jacket. 22 inches accross measured from under the armpits. 25.5 inches for the sleeves measured from the shoulder seem to the cuff. The lining appears to be wool and is in great shape. The jacket is an overall great find and wonderful piece of submarine history. This jacket has been there. Overseas bidders are welcome.
