Paper label oddball. Before & after cleaning photos. Found in an older ladies basement. Paper label. 10.00 shipping USA lower 48 states. Apparently this is rarer than I thought, or, it's a fake. Dick Bridgford is currently reviewing some pics I sent him and will call me tonight (8-26) with his opinion. I'll let you know. I found it at a garage sale, for a couple of dollars; kids had cleaned their mother's basement out. If its a fake, someone went a long ways for nothing, because they didn't get much. The following was Emailed to me by Dick Bridgeforth: According to Dick Bridgforth, Mountain Dew author, this piece is most probably original. It is dated 1964 before Pepsi bought Mountain Dew from the Tip corporation. in late 1964. Before Pepsi Got involved, distributors and bottlers would/could make up their own advertising pieces since Tip did not provide them with enough of what they wanted. This piece was probably a promotional jug that a bottler made for his route men to use when they dressed up as hillbillies. In costume, the hillbillies would throw a "jug of moonshine" (this jug) over their shoulders. It probably never held syrup or any other liquid, it was a promotional piece. The hillbilly on the label is neither the Hartman Hillbilly nor the Pepsi hillbilly. Its is part of the "rogue hillbillies" that were not sanctioned read more
