This is a 1960's era Flying Saucer Space Explorer. This was made by Ichiko in Japan. This is the grey version, there were two and the difference is the band around the center is grey while the other version is blue. The saucer when turned on explores its surrounding with mistry bump and go action. Suddenly Space Explorer stops and rises on its three legs, with flashing lights and space noise. After a while it ocmes back down and heads out in search of new obstacles to bump into. THIS IS DAMAGED AND WON'T WORK . The Battery Compartment had batteries in it that leaked. The plastic at the positive end is cracked. The negative end where there was a coil spring is corroded and there is junk around it. The plastic there is also cracked. The metal on the outside of the bottom is swollen and bubbled up so the painted surface near it is raised. This is a small area about an inch or so long and 1/3 inch wide. See Photos The box is original. The top has come apart at the glued seams and there is a tear in one side See Photos. This may be a candidate for restoration . Now what is right about this toy . Nice visual from the top and sides as there are no defects. The plastic legs and black turning mechanism on the bottom is intact. The white fins on the top are intact as well as the vents and the red exaust manifold on the back of the craft. The read more
