Obtained at a tag sale from a retired TWA stewardess/supervisor, this is the real deal, NOT a store costume. This vintage & SCARCE paper dress was part of the airline's Foreign Accent promotion introduced in 1968 and is UNOPENED in its original packaging. Styled by Elisa Daggs. This auction is for a SILVER French Cafe model (brochure illustration shows this dress in gold), part of the French theme available on some flights. TWA described "The POW of Paper! And the WOW!" like this:" ...our golden [silver] mini dress of Metalized Kyron with rayon fiber backing. Emphatically French from ruffled neckline to abbreviated hem height.... They fit any figure from 5' 2" to 5' 9", in the 7 to 15 or 8 to 14 ranges. And any unwanted extra length can be snipped away with a scissors." The package measures approx 12" x 14" and is soiled along one border but the dress and belt inside appear totally pristine.T is also a warning: "This garment may become highly flammable if washed, laundered, or dry cleaned." Talk about HOT! Bonus: I will include photo copies of pages from an original TWA brochure describing these paper dresses and a copy of a Newsweek (3/25/68) article about TWA's Foreign Accent promotion.Double Bonus: also included will be a TWA flight crew plastic pin. Are you lovin' it!?!? Mais oui! So, how about this for a groovy and way hard read more
