This relished auction is for a rare Bronzed finish 1960's STC (Not Coles) 4038 Ribbon mic. Coles technical have told me this is pre 1970 mic (best they can do as have no STC records) and because of the finish and low serial number it is probably early to mid 60's. The Mic sounds rich and warm, with its characteristic top end, and I have tested it for speech at up to -80dB on a Calrec PQ1161 and UAD unison Neve 1073 in which it showed a good S/N. The old brown cable cover at the back of the mic is showing wear but the inner cable, from the ribbon to the transformer, is in perfect condition. I include the very rare Mic support, which allows the cable to side exit allowing for the use of a floor stand. (I've not seen another for sale} Also included is the original brass mic 3 pin to XLR connector You are welcome to try this out and I will accept international sales but will not accept returns.
